I’d always planned to have a “personal” blog, which is pretty much what this started as. I didn’t have time to set things up exactly how I wanted before leaving on vacation, but now that I’m back I had the time to set a proper blog hosted on my own domain. Check it out here:

Hosting it on my own server will give me a bit more flexibility and much more space, so all future updates will happen there. I’ve moved over all the old posts from here too.

Vertigo oh-oooo-oh-oh

Real life begins again in about 12 hours for me, which pretty much sucks. Vacations can’t last forever though, right? Too bad.

Vertigo has hit me pretty hard. Whenever I walk around I feel like one of the bad dudes in Batman Begins right before he gets snatched. It’s no way to live with the throbbing and the earth moving while standing still. I don’t recommend.

To take my mind off it I made myself an icecream treat I like to call the death pill, so named because of the gross amount of chocolate and my dogs insistence on trying to eat it. No death pill for you Zoey! Ya’ll should try it. Get a one of those warm delight brownies and some chocolate ice cream – I recommend the dreyers overloaded varieties – and stick your ice cream in the brownie after nuking it, drizzle the included fudge on top and walla – instant bliss!

I’m at 153.2 so it looks like I gained about 8 pounds sinc I started at 145.4. Not too shabby.

There and Back Again

We made it back into Utah in pretty good time. Southwest gets my stamp of approval, they don’t mess around. Neither did the airport shuttle dude, he was skipping stops like a nuke was going off behind him. God bless that dude.

Should be home in an hour or so. Hopfully the puppy missed us.

Sunny Seattle

Well, we’ve arrived in the city I’ve dreamed of seeing since my pre-teen years and it’s looking like I’ll be viewing it through the airport. This blows.

It’s no ones fault but my own though, we just couldn’t take any more time off so it was either:

1) Spend the night after the cruise in Seattle and fly home Sunday, then rush back to work Monday

2) Spend little to no time in Seattle which should piss me off to the point that I vow to make it back here sometime and give the visit the true amount of time it deserves.

I figured I’d be pissed with #1 too, so why not save money and have a cushion day before going back to the grind. Seattle, I’ll see you in truth someday.

The Road Goes Ever On

We made it to solid ground today and started the journey from Vancouver to Seattle. No more boats, one more plane.

Leaving the boat was a bit sad though, mainly because we ran over an orca just before docking and he was still stuck on the front of the ship as we pulled away in the bus. I reckon he shoulda tries to sky over us a la Free Willy. Poor Shamoo.

Currently we’re on a bus just over the US border. I thought about making a wise crack about my WMDs in my Fruit Loops box but I decided against it. Vancuever was aight from the bus windows. We saw this cool building with murals and such that I was able to snap a photo of. All the other cool stuff went by too fast.

We’re gonna see if we can get an earlier flight out but it’s looking like we’ll be home around midnight. Damn.

Last Day

Vacation is pretty much over now. Finished off with some steak and baked alaska tonight. I’m not sure what I’m gonna do when I get home and don’t have unlimited food for no cost, no preperation and no clean up. Plus we’ll have to decide what to eat instead of getting a pre planned menu handed too us.

I’ll certainly miss the ice cream machine. I must have had a good two dozen cones.

Final weigh in came in at 155 on the dot. We’ll see how that jives with our scale at home.

Weather was a bit odd today. It went from so foggy they had to use the fog horn every few minutes to sunny and quite warm. Saw some orcas when we got in around Vancouver Island. Very pretty sunset though only pics of that off the real camera. I’ll try to get those up soon, I took around 700 so it may take a bit.

We leave early tomorrow in the AM from Vancouver to Seattle and then to SLC. Should be home around midnight. We’ll be in the Seattle airport forever tomorrow so we’ll see what shennanigans happen.

Liquid Sunshine

It rained hard on us in Ketchikan. So hard in fact, it soaked through my pants so I walked around town with wet pants. Not fun. Still a pretty little city though. Also, lobster for dinner last night and the waitress must have really likes Ken since they gave him 3 lobster tails.

I weighed in again last night and I’m almost at the 10 pound market. Yikes. Leaving Ken in the dust.

It was VERY rainy and foggy in the Misty Fjords yesterday but still quite good. We saw lots of bald eagles and a little clan of seals right off the side of the boat. We got some good pics of the wildlife on the real camera.
